Role description

Role Overview

We're a team building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, and we're looking for a Controls Engineer to design and implement demand management controls. The role involves building control strategies, integrating with markets and utilities, and proving strategies in simulation before deployment. We operate with extreme ownership, velocity, and a first-principles approach, and we're committed to pay equity and transparency.

What You Will Do

As a Controls Engineer, you'll design and implement control logic that flexes gigawatts of load against grid signals and price, integrate with markets and utilities, and validate strategies in simulation before deployment. You'll also work on building control strategies coordinating IT load, cooling, and behind-the-meter generation without touching an SLA.

Why It Might Be a Fit

We're looking for someone who's engineered controls for energy systems, built control logic that acted on real load and kept its constraints, and understands power systems enough to know what not to automate. Bonus skills include data center power and cooling, BESS controls, ISO and RTO market mechanics, and optimization methods.

Requirements

  • Engineered controls for energy systems: demand response, microgrids, or industrial load management
  • Built control logic that acted on real load and kept its constraints
  • Understands power systems enough to know what not to automate
  • Integrated with utility or market signals
  • Validated in simulation before the field, every time

Benefits

  • Pay equity
  • Transparency
