Role description

Role Overview

We're looking for a Plant Controls Lead to own the control stack for fully off-grid campuses, design a grid whose largest load answers back, and turn the control philosophy into sequences of operation. The role requires owning the plant controller for each power block and the dispatch logic across PV, BESS, and gas. The ideal candidate has experience with utility-scale hybrid plants combining at least two of PV, BESS, and thermal generation.

What You Will Do

The Plant Controls Lead will design and implement the control stack, write sequences of operation, and commission and tune the controls in the field. The role also involves hiring controls software and test engineers who build the stack with you.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate is someone who has owned the plant controller or EMS on a utility-scale hybrid plant, has written sequences of operation, and has shipped control software as a product. The role requires a strong understanding of control systems, industrial control protocols, and OT security.

Requirements

  • owned the plant controller or EMS on a utility-scale hybrid plant combining at least two of PV, BESS, and thermal generation
  • written sequences of operation for source transitions, blackstart or islanding
  • shipped control software as a product, version-controlled, tested, and released to running plants
  • designed an interface between two control systems owned by different parties
  • tuned a plant in the field, frequency and voltage response, ramp rates, and load steps

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Equity and transparency
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid holidays
  • Flexible work arrangements
