Role Overview
Design and build medium-voltage networks for data centers, focusing on speed and scale. The Power Generation Team works on building an islanded grid at gigawatt scale, getting power online in months, and making a repeatable power block that can be built a thousand times.
What You Will Do
Design the medium-voltage network, cluster tie, and MV substations, size feeders and cable, set protection philosophy and relay settings, and define the standard specifications for MV switchgear, transformers, cable, and relaying.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate has experience building ETAP or SKM PowerTools models, PSCAD models, and designing MV distribution down to the hardware. They should be able to walk through protection coordination and defend design choices against NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE requirements.
Requirements
- Personal experience building ETAP or SKM PowerTools models of an MV network
- Experience building PSCAD models of switching, energization, or islanded events
- Ability to set protection philosophy and relay settings for a system with limited or variable fault current
- Experience designing MV distribution down to the hardware
- Ability to defend design choices against NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE requirements
