Technical Lead, MV DC Systems
FluidStack — New York, New York, United States · In-Person · Senior
Role description
Role Overview
The Technical Lead, MV DC Systems will design and build medium-voltage DC distribution systems for gigawatt-scale AI campuses, from architecture through safety case. The team is working on key problems such as choosing the MVDC architecture, proving a fully converter-interfaced network holds, and clearing DC faults without zero crossing. The role requires owning the system EMT model, running fault and stability analysis, and setting the protection philosophy. The team will drive vendor strategy for SSCBs, converters, and DC-rated components.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities will include architecting MVDC distribution, owning the system EMT model, and running fault and stability analysis. The role will also involve setting the protection philosophy, leading the DC Systems team, and defining its first deliverables. Additionally, the Technical Lead will hold the technical interfaces to the SST and facility electrical teams and drive vendor strategy for SSCBs, converters, and DC-rated components.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience in power systems or power electronics, with direct MVDC or HVDC system design experience. They will be fluent in EMT simulation and have used it to prove designs, not just to check them after the fact. The candidate should also have experience building defensible safety cases ahead of immature standards and leading small technical teams.
Requirements
