Role Overview

Vultr is seeking a Manager of Production Site Reliability Engineering to build and lead a new team responsible for the availability, performance, and operability of our production control plane.

What You Will Do

You will own the day-to-day operations of this environment: incident response, monitoring and alerting, configuration management, capacity planning, and the ongoing re-architecture of the control plane for continued scale.

You will hire, grow, and lead a team of SREs and database engineers, set the operational culture, and partner closely with engineering teams across the organization to ensure the production environment is reliable, observable, and ready for the next phase of Vultr's growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in site reliability engineering or infrastructure operations, with at least 2 years in a team lead or management role
• Deep experience operating production web stacks at scale
• Strong Linux systems knowledge
• Track record of building and operating monitoring and alerting systems and driving a culture of observability and proactive incident response
• Experience with configuration management at scale (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or similar) and a strong opinion on what belongs in config management vs. what should be code
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Experience hiring and building engineering teams
• Experience with database replication, backup strategies, and failure modes
• Experience leading production migrations or major infrastructure transitions
