Role description

Role Overview

This role will support the successful development and long-term operation of Nscale's infrastructure in Iceland, ensuring local support and minimal disruption. The Stakeholder & Community Engagement Manager will act as Nscale's on-the-ground representative, building relationships with local stakeholders and communities, managing engagement, and identifying and addressing issues early.

What You Will Do

The responsibilities include acting as the primary local representative for Nscale, building and maintaining relationships with local authorities, MPs, community leaders, and representative groups. The role also involves designing and delivering a structured community engagement programme, consultations, public meetings, and briefings, ensuring two-way communication with local communities.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role will suit someone with proven experience of engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, who is comfortable operating within complex and sometimes competing stakeholder environments, and is skilled at building trust, navigating different perspectives, and can confidently represent the voice of the community within the organisation.

Requirements

  • 3–8 years of experience in community engagement, public affairs, local government, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of how local communities and decision-making structures operate (particularly in the UK planning system)
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, development, or construction projects is strongly preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly
  • Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex projects clearly and confidently
  • Comfortable acting as the local “face” of a project and representing the organisation externally
  • Able to manage competing priorities and operate effectively under pressure
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Experience working in politically sensitive or regulated environments
